Trieste Firm Plans Megayacht Yard on Industrial Quay

FTZ News: Trieste Shipyards Srl plans to build and service megayachts of up to 80 meters on the industrial waterfront at the Port of Trieste.

The company was presented in the city on Sept. 18, ANSA reported that day. Ports Europe published a note on the plan on Sept. 21. The shareholders are Seadock, a Samer group company; Yachting Expertise; and Friulia, the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional finance company, which holds one-third of the capital. Enrico Samer, president of the Samer group, said Seadock is contributing logistics experience, heavy-lift equipment and the site, and that Friulia is supporting the start-up.

The yard would stand on Seadock ground along the quay of the Porto Industriale. An executive design has been filed with the City of Trieste. The first structure is a hangar of about 3,000 square meters and 25 meters high, laid out from plate cutting through fitting-out. Samer said he hopes to finish the building in the summer of 2027 and begin construction of the first yachts in the autumn of that year.

On Sept. 9 the city council approved a port-authority request to extend Trieste’s free-port regime to the former Ferriera site. That vote is a separate municipal file from the shipyard application.

Ports Europe also reported on Sept. 18 that prosecutors had closed the preliminary phase of an inquiry into alleged misuse of funds at the port authority. The shipyard announcement does not name Seadock or Friulia in that inquiry.

The public record on the yard, as of this week, is the new company, Friulia’s one-third stake, the filing at city hall, and the dates Samer gave: the hangar in summer 2027 and the first hulls in the autumn.
