Super Micro Withdraws FTZ Production Bid at California’s FTZ 18
FTZ News: Super Micro Computer has withdrawn its request for foreign-trade zone production authority at three facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to a notice published Nov. 5 in the Federal Register.
The company had asked the Foreign-Trade Zones Board for permission to make high-performance computing systems under zone procedures at sites in San Jose, Fremont and Milpitas, all within FTZ 18. The board formally accepted the notification on June 17, 2026. Super Micro requested the withdrawal on Oct. 30, 2026.
The notice, signed by Executive Secretary Colin Agostisi, does not say why the company pulled the request. It also does not indicate whether Super Micro plans to resubmit it or pursue production authority another way. The withdrawal ends the review of this particular filing. The company can still use the sites under ordinary foreign-trade zone rules for warehousing and distribution. Production activity, however, would require a new request.
