Zapala Free Zone Plans $1.8 Million Forage Export Plant
FTZ News: A new industrial project at Argentina’s Zapala Free Zone will focus on compressing forage into bales for export, adding an agricultural processing operation to a site with businesses in logistics, transport and oil and gas services.
According to the Municipality of Zapala, the project involves an initial investment of $1.8 million and is designed to process up to 60,000 metric tons of forage a year. The municipality announced the investment on Sept. 11 as part of a broader effort to attract companies to the free zone in Neuquén province.
City officials described the plant as the first industrial investment of its kind at the zone. The project has been brought in by a new direct user of the facility, though the announcement did not identify the company or provide a construction schedule or expected opening date./.
